British Columbia budget tabled today:
"Fresh off the Olympics, British Columbians were looking for big
strides toward a clean energy economy. But continued carbon tax
loopholes combined with oil and gas subsidies amount to a near $700
million lost opportunity in these investments."

2010 emissions reduction targets (six per cent below 1990 levels):

In its environmental review of the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline project, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency will not be considering the major environmental impacts of the 30 per cent increase in average daily oil sands output that the pipeline will enable.

Experts agree that this could be accomplished through either a carbon tax or a cap and trade system. The Round Table is opting for cap and trade only to align with federal government policy."
